Caribbean

During your trip to the Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, you will be staying in the very heart of the Caribbean. Your access to many other islands – and nearby countries – in the area can be accomplished by a quick trip by boat or airplane. If you are looking for seclusion or for a cultural tour, you will find many options for your travel adventure during your stay. Traveling to other islands means you can expand your opportunities to learn about the Caribbean and experience many different types of cultures in addition to enjoying the beautiful beaches and opportunities of Turks and Caicos.

Traveling within Turks and Caicos

The Turks and Caicos are actually made up of 40 different islands, and only 8 of these islands are inhabited. With several airports and ferry services, traveling within Turks and Caicos is convenient. Regular flights between the Providenciales International Airport, Grand Turk JAGS McCartney International Airport, South Caicos Airport and Salt Cay Airport make trips to each island quick. North Caicos Airport is also available for private charter flights. The North, South and Middle Caicos are all easily reached from Providenciales by ferry, but there is no ferry service to the Turk Islands.

Travel to Other Caribbean Islands

The exotic, culturally rich islands of Jamaica, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico and Haiti are served by flights from Providenciales International Airport. These islands are just a short flight away, typically no more than 1-2 hours by air. The flights are most often direct, but some travel itineraries may require changing planes. Traveling between these islands may require a passport and visa, depending on your travel schedule and your home country. Your travel agent can provide specific guidance about the visa requirements you’ll need to meet to travel to the islands of your choice. To ensure the immediate availability of flights, you may wish to book your flights in advance and travel during low season when there is less demand for flights.

Day Trips in Paradise

Because the distances and flights are so short, day trips to other islands may be possible depending on the current flight schedules. Transportation on the different islands may vary, but there are options including taxis, public transportation, rental cars and private charters. Staying in the Turks and Caicos and traveling to other islands to explore the variety of cultures that comprise the Caribbean will allow you to expand the scope of your stay. You can enjoy the cuisine and music of Jamaica, the tropical rainforests and nightclubs of Puerto Rico, and the British traditions of the Cayman Islands.
