The Turks and Caicos Islands provide a delightful vacation destination with world-class beaches, secluded swimming spots, and a variety of outdoor activities (for the active and the relaxed). A getaway to these islands is relatively easy to organize because there typically is less demand when compared to other Caribbean destinations. As you begin planning your trip, you may want to consider the timing of your arrival. These islands have a high season and a low season, and there are certain advantages to each.
High Season
The high season in the Turks and Caicos Islands takes place from November through March. These are the times when North America and Europe have the coldest weather, so the Turks and Caicos are a popular destination when you want a warm, tropical escape. Rental Rates and airline pricing are highest this time of year.
During the high season, temperatures average 75 degrees. You will be able to enjoy beach and ocean activities, take scuba diving lessons, and everything else. There are many other activities offered during high season, such as the annual New Year’s Eve celebration, Thursday night fish fry, and Easter festivities. These gatherings take place well into the night and include live music, plenty of food and dancing.
Visiting during the high season allows you to enjoy other special events, such as the November Conch Festival. The festival features gastronomic delights as well as music, arts and jewelry made from conch shells. Even during the peak Spring Break season, you are likely to find plenty of space on the beaches and at the best restaurants.
Low Season
The low season for visiting the Turks and Caicos takes place from April through October. These months are great times of the year for watching migrations of sea birds, turtles, dolphins, and whales. Flights and villa rental rates are the lowest this time of year. There are fewer people on the beaches, and the islands take on the peaceful and quiet air. The months from April through October are also ideal times for collecting shells, surfing, and jet skiing around the Turks and Caicos. The water is typically always warm, and you can rent any of the equipment necessary to enjoy your favorite water activities or try something new.
You could visit during the annual June Crab Fest, which features exciting crab races and all sorts of foods made from this meat. During the low season, you will be able to choose from a wide range of accommodations. If you are seeking some special services such as a visit to the spa, appointments are easy to book during the low season. This is an excellent time of the year to visit if you like attentive service.
