The Turks and Caicos Islands are known all around the world for their crystal blue waters, year-round warm weather, and some of the world’s most sought-after beaches -no wonder people can’t get enough of them! In this blog post, we’ll go over some basic information for all of those considering Turks and Caicos for their next adventure.

Geography

Turks & Caicos is a group of over 40 islands located in the Caribbean to the east of Cuba. Of the many smaller islands and cays, the main 4 larger islands are Providenciales to the West, then North Caicos, Middle Caicos, and East Caicos.

Providenciales (often called Provo for short) is the main tourism destination island with most of the restaurants and infrastructure. It is the most developed island in the archipelago. This small 23-mile wide island is home to the International Airport (PLS) and many hotels, resorts, restaurants and all of our ~40 luxury villas. We know this island like the back of our hands and would love to chat with you about how much it has changed over the past 50 years! Click here to chat with one of our villa specialists!

Getting there

The international airport is located on Providenciales -airport code PLS. Most large US and Canadian cities fly direct to PLS along with many cities in Europe and South America.

Transportation

Though there are taxis on island, we highly recommend a rental car for transportation. It is the best (and often cheapest as taxis are expensive and unreliable!) means of getting around, plus it affords guests the flexibility to explore the island’s many beaches and activities. You can pick up your rental car at the airport and drive to your villa! (Just remember to drive on the left side of the road)

Activities

Sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skis, boating, kayaking, windsurfing, SUPs, beach horseback riding to name a few….these islands are the perfect destination for active adventurers or laid back beach bums! We are happy to make recommendations to you for fun activities and vendors that previous guests have loved.

Food

Provo has tons of great restaurants to choose from! From casual toes in the sand beach bars to high-end fine dining, you can totally find a great spot for your group. There are two large grocery stores on island, the IGA and Graceway Gourmet. Our guests can also contact local cooks and chefs for in-home cooking services so you can relax and eat in.

Money

US currency and most restaurants accept credit cards. It’s good to have cash for souvenirs or beverages.
