FAQs for Turks & Caicos from An Island Expert

Hi! My name is Dani and I love the Turks and Caicos Islands. Over the last 4 years of working with TC Villas, I have had the pleasure of visiting these islands many times and feel like Provo is a second home! It is my pleasure to chat with people interested in Turks and Caicos and help them understand what a visit to these islands and our villas will be like! (Hint: It’s awesome.)

Here are a few pointers I like to tell guests when we communicate via phone (1-877-467-4858) or email (info@tcvillas.com)

1. Are the Turks and Caicos Islands Easy and Accessible to Prepare a Visit for?

American Money, Outlet and Passport

Turks Islanders speak English, the currency is US Dollar, the electrical outlets are US standard and a normal valid passport is perfect! (No need for a visa for US or Canadian visitors.) The international airpot (Code PLS) welcomes flights from many major US, Canadian, and European cities, making travel to these islands easy.

2. Villas or Hotels?

Villa or Hotel in the Turks and Caicos

Obviously I am biased here, but I do think choosing accommodations in a private villa over a hotel or resort is a better decision for many people. Villas offer guests better privacy (who wants to share the pool with the hairy back guy?), private amenities, and a furnished kitchen and grill. Being able to grocery shop, catch your own fish, and cook with your family or friends is a great island experience and one that makes you feel more at home during a vacation! There are many restaurants on island to choose from as well, but having your own kitchen, living room and pool adds a homey feeling to your stay that I personally love.

3. Transportation: How Do You Get Around?

Rental Cars are the best means of transportation on the island. 1st Alert: You do drive on the left side of the road in Turks and 2nd Alert: It’s not that hard! Renting a car allows one to really enjoy the island by visiting various beaches, trying restaurants, and getting a comfortable feel of the 23 mile wide island relatively quickly. Most of our guests rent a car upon landing on the island and return it when they depart.

4. Why choose TCI over other Caribbean Islands?

Ok, I am definitely biased on this one too. But the thousands of people who voted Grace Bay Beach as the #1 beach in the world may not be! Grace Bay Beach is a beautiful 11 miles stretch of white sand and clear turquoise waters. With other stunning beaches like Long Bay Beach, Sapodilla Beach Beach, Taylor Bay Beach, and Babalua Beach, Turks and Caicos offers some unforgettably beautiful beaches.

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos is a Caribbean island that is hardly developed (no buildings over 7 stories) which means you get the untouched beauty of palm trees and beaches while simultaneously receiving all the 1st world amenities you could ask for.  Restaurants, water activities, stunning villas, private catering and the luxurious list goes on.

Most importantly you get precious time away from your overworked busy city life to be on an island with a population of 23,000.  It’s a small community and very calming. Privacy is valued here and is one of the main reasons big-time celebrities flock to this little island.
