Over a dozen local food vendors, entertainers, and musical bands come together every Thursday evening for the Turks and Caicos Islands Fish Fry. This event allows you to enjoy fresh, locally caught lobster, crab, and fish. Each vendor uses his or her own unique recipes, which give you plentiful and delicious options.
If you like spicy seafood, try the jerk seasoning -it’s got a bit of a kick! You’ll also find plenty of delectable side dishes, including plantains, biscuits, fried potatoes, hush puppies, breaded and fried vegetables, and more. To quench your thirst, you can try a variety of sweet teas, soft drinks, and adult beverages. Each vendor allows you to customize your meal as you dine outdoors under the starry Caribbean night sky.
What to Do at the Fish Fry
In addition to the fabulous foods you can have for dinner at the fish fry, there are many other things to enjoy at this weekly Turks and Caicos event. Live music performed by local bands takes place all evening long. You can dance to the music while waiting for dinner or dance for a while after eating. Dozens of arts and crafts vendors also set up among the food stands. You can browse for fun souvenirs such as tiny dolls, jewelry pieces, handbags, scarves, and other fun accessories.
Take your time to talk with the artisans and learn more about how they make their wares. Some bargaining is typical while shopping at the markets of the fish fry, and you can expect to receive plenty of questions about how much you enjoyed your dinner. Entertainment such as dancing, singing, and performance artistry also occurs throughout the evening. One week, there might be a juggler; the next week, you could be treated to a troupe of delightful dancers. Be sure to come every week of your vacation because each event is a new experience.
